One of the things we are most proud of about our Tofu Cat Litter is how little of a negative impact it has on our environment. Traditional cat litter methods, such as clay and crystals pose a negative impact on our planet.

Tofu Cat Litter is made out of the bi-product of producing tofu. When tofu is made, there is a bi-product left over. Our Tofu Cat Litter is made out of this, meaning we utilise something that would otherwise end up going to waste. Clay cat litter, which 75% of the time is made by adding sodium bentonite, has a negative impact as the majority of sodium bentonite is acquired through strip mining. Strip mining destroys the local environment and can displace wildlife. 

A commonly used alternative to clay is crystal cat litter, which is made out of silica. This product is unnatural and creates dust in your environment. Both clay and crystal cat litter are not biodegradable, as they are in their final state and unable to break down any further. This means these forms of cat litter will remain in landfill. On the other hand, Tofu Cat Litter is 100% biodegradable. It can be put in your green bin, composted, or flushed down the toilet in small quantities.
